BOB KITCHEN

Bob 7 Finger Kitchen, after a traumatic accident in the 2005 Van Isle 360 race, aboard the vessel Lordelpus, almost lost one of his most important fingers during a spinnaker take down. A team of surgeons spent 8 minutes trying to save the finger. Once the Band-Aid, and the two stitches were removed, the leading surgeon, Dr. Bird, said, he was pleased with the results and thought Bob would regain 100% mobility of his finger but was disappointed and surprised that the trauma had left Bob unable to count. After two years of intensive rehabilitation Bob has learned to count without his fingers. His determination to come back to this race after such trauma has inspired the crew. We look forward to your return and ability to do the 5 minute count down without fingers. Well done Bobby.
